You can also partner with a friend and they can ask you a sample question while you answer to practice interviewing.
- What do you know about our organization and why are you interested in joining our staff?
- How have your education and/or experiences prepared you for this position?
- Describe your current area of focus and tell me how your academic knowledge will enhance our project.
- What are your career goals for the next five years? What have you already done or plan to do to accomplish these goals?
- Tell me about a time when someone gave you instructions and you misunderstood their instructions. What was the situation, what did you do when you realized your error, and what was the outcome?
- Tell me about a time when you received unwelcome criticism. How did you deal with the criticism?
- Tell me about an experience you had to make learning accessible.
- Tell me about a time when you had to persuade someone to do something using a method that you preferred.
- Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with a co-worker. What did this experience teach you about managing conflicts with peers?
- Tell me about a time when you edited another person's work.
- Give me an example of a time when you had to use creativity to solve a problem.
- Fieldwork can be extremely physically demanding. How will you physically prepare for this placement and how will you maintain your health during the placement?
- Some of the tasks in this position are repetitive. How do you stay motivated when you are asked to do the same thing multiple times a day?
- Tell me about a time when you were giving a presentation and you believed it was not going well. What did you do in this situation? What did you learn from the experience?
- This is a two-year placement and I see that you have never studied or worked abroad for more than three months. How will you deal with homesickness and culture shock?
- Tell me about a time when you worked on a diverse team and how you worked with your team members.
- Tell me about a time when you asked for an exception or an extension on your work. What were the circumstances? Did you get your extension or exception? Why do you feel you were justified in asking for an extension?
- Describe a time when you displayed good use of communication skills.
- Tell me about your public speaking and your instructional experience.
- What is your preferred audience/student group? Children, seniors, educated adults? Why?
