advising appointment for a mock interview to prepare for interviews, but you can also use these questions for self-study. With the participation of a friend, they can ask you a sample question while you answer to practice interviewing.

- Do you have good manual dexterity? What have you done to develop your dexterity?
- Is it more important for a dentist to be conscientious (pay attention to detail) or personable (demonstrate patient care)? Why?
- What skills do you see as crucial to the practice of dentistry?
- Have you had any practical experience in dentistry?
- Tell me about a time when you had to provide feedback to a subordinate about their skills.
- What is the most important ingredient of a dentist/patient relationship?
- Tell me about a situation that you found stressful. How did you deal with it?
- Give me an example of a time when you had to reassure someone.
- Your patient has brought his daughter in for the child’s first dental appointment. The patient says he cannot convince his daughter to brush her teeth. He has asked you to pretend that the child has cavities to scare her into taking care of her teeth. How would you deal with this situation?
- What would you do if a patient came to you to have a cavity filled and they were extremely nervous about the procedure?
- How would you describe your knowledge of current technology and procedures?
- Explain the process that you use to learn a new technique. How do you know when you have mastered that technique?
