  1. What steps have you taken to find out if this occupation is the right career for you?
  2. How has your education prepared you for this position?
  3. What impact do you hope to make in this field?
  4. How would you rate your communication skills? Why would you give yourself this rating? If we were to ask one of your supervisors to comment on your communication skills and provide a rating, would it be the same or different from yours? Why?
  5. Tell us about a time when you demonstrated empathy in the workplace.
  6. Have you ever submitted a research project for an ethics review? Could you tell us about your experience with the review and what you learned from the process?
  7. What is your experience with [mass spectrometry analysis]? You can also change this to [tissue culture analysis] or any specific laboratory procedures mentioned in the job posting.
  8. Tell us about a time when you supervised a team.
  9. Tell us about a time when you had a conflict with a peer and/or colleague.
  10. In this position, you will work with a multidisciplinary team including geneticists, genetic counsellors, nurses, social workers, dietitians and pharmacists. Tell us about a time when you contributed to a multidisciplinary team. What was your role? Tell us about one difficulty that you encountered.
  11. Describe the method that you use to plan and organize this work. Why do you use this method? 
  12. Describe one of your research projects for us. Why did you decide to pursue this area of research?
  13. How would you handle the situation if a client you were providing a genetic consultation to revealed personal problems to you?
  14. Have you participated in the data gathering in a population study? What was your role? What was one unique contribution you made to the study?
