POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is based in Edmonton, Alberta.

This individual will interpret information gathered and data collected through a province-wide environmental scan and identify potential programming, practices, and resources that will serve to inform a Friendship Centres Language Plan that will support the development and delivery of programming for urban Indigenous people to discover, reclaim, and revitalize Indigenous languages.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Experience with reconciliation, Indigenous languages, and community-based programming. Knowledge of UNDRIP.
  • Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment and at the community level.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule demanding work assignments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products. Teams experience is essential. Capacity to quickly learn software.
  • Develop and maintain efficient and effective recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Possess advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to gather and research relevant data, compile information, proposal development, and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of urban Indigenous Friendship Centre Movement, structure, and processes will be considered an asset.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To work in collaboration with ANFCA leadership to create a viable language plan and resource guide to support the creation and advancement of language programming Friendship Centre communities across Alberta.
  • To develop pathways to share best practices, tools, and information regarding Indigenous languages across the Friendship Centre network in Alberta.
  • Develop tools and data management practices to track language programming and to capture narrative reporting to advance the language programming capacity of Alberta Friendship Centres. Develop reports.
  • Work daily in Teams to ensure documents are saved, filed, and shared appropriately.
  • Communicate directly with Friendship Centres. Ability to lead effective community engagements.
  • Other related duties as directed by the Leadership Team.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Post Secondary Education or related equivalencies; at least three years of direct project experience that relates to the duties and responsibilities specified.

REMUNERATION: This job is classified as full-time (37.5 hours/week) and is a funding-based position.
