We are seeking a Data & Analytics Analyst Intern to join our team for a 4-month internship starting in May 2025 (with potential for extension) and contribute to our ambitious growth initiatives.

Responsibilities

Business Analytics and Strategy Development:
  • Apply data science and data analytics techniques to support business analytics projects.
  • Develop, evaluate, and refine decisioning flows and credit risk strategies.
Model Development and Validation:
  • Assist in the development, validation, documentation, deployment, and monitoring of machine learning models used in the consumer lending industry.
  • Assess model adequacy and appropriateness based on business objectives, assumptions, and performance.
  • Identify and evaluate predictive attributes for credit decisioning and fraud detection.
Dashboards Development and Refinement:
  • Design, implement, and optimize model and credit monitoring dashboards to provide actionable insights.
  • Ensure dashboards meet client-specific requirements and align with organizational goals.
Industry Knowledge and Best Practices:
  • Leverage up-to-date data science techniques to enhance credit monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Stay current with industry technology and best practices in credit risk management, data visualization, and decision strategy implementation.
Independent Project Management:
  • Manage time-sensitive projects and deliverables independently with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project outcomes with business objectives.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting:
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to refine credit monitoring strategies.
  • Prepare clear, data-driven reports and presentations for decision-makers.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement innovative solutions.
  • Monitor the performance of dashboards and decision-making models, making necessary adjustments to maintain effectiveness.
  • Other projects and/or duties as assigned by your Supervisor from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or a related field (strong applicants at the senior undergraduate level may also be considered).
  • Strong programming experience in Python for data analysis, machine learning, and automation.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating large datasets.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and experience working with structured and unstructured data.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently identify and address challenges effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset, with the ability to collaborate effectively while also working independently.
  • Analytical and strategic thinker who is eager to learn and contribute to meaningful projects.
Desirable Skills & Assets
  • Exposure to credit risk modeling, fraud detection, or financial services analytics.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, AWS, or Google Cloud).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with A/B testing, statistical analysis, or econometrics.
  • Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) and text analytics is a plus.
  • Interest in financial inclusion, responsible lending, and ethical AI.
  • Strong curiosity and passion for learning, with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
